Important services in Ascoli Piceno:

 

When you visit Ascoli Piceno one of the first places you will want to stop is the Tourist Office. These are always located by looking for the big white and yellow “i”. They can provide you with maps and a guide book in English as well as information on current events, but be aware that the people who work there have very limited English.

Located in Piazza Arringo inside Palazzo Arengo which is located on south side of the piazza.



Parking:


Parking on the streets in the historic center of Ascoli Piceno can be difficult as there are limited spaces but the city has three pay parking locations which allow easy access to the historic center. The closest one to the heart of the city is Parcheggio Seminario which is located just south of Piazza Arringo on Viale De Gasperi. The next closest one is Parcheggio Torricella which is located off Via Sgariglia on the south side of Torrente Castellano. There is a bridge and elevator providing good access. The farthest location is Parcheggio Ex Gil which is on the north side of Fiume Tronto on Viale Marcello Federici. Ex-Gil does have a bus that runs about 15 minutes between the parking garage and the historic center during the regular business hours. There is no fee for this bus service.



 

Parking on the street is free where there are white lines, for a fee where there are blue lines (usually €1.35 per hour) from 8AM to 1PM then again 3PM to 8PM, and where there are yellow lines it is restricted to residents only. The parking fees are enforced seven days a week and the blue meters are always nearby, a parking ticket will cost you €35!

There is a public restroom on the south side of Piazza Roma down a short alley, Rua della Seta. All of the bars will have a restroom that is accessible to the public, just ask politely.


Internet:


If you have your own wi-fi accessible laptop you can use the wi-fi available at Caffe Pretoriano which is located just south of Piazza Roma on Via Pretoriana.



There are also internet points where you pay by the hour to use their terminal. There is one on Via della Fortezza, one in Piazza Bonfine and in Piazza Arringo there is a phone point next to the Baptistry and the Catholic Bookstore two doors down also has an internet point. There will be an hourly charge usually €2 to €3.
