Helpful hints:
In some of restaurants you will not be given a bill at your table but simply walk up to the register located at the coffee bar or by the door to pay. Watch what other people before you do and just follow along Many times you will simply tell them what you had and they will give you a receipt with a total, no itemization. Again things are much less formal in this area and done on the honor system.

If you want a light lunch or dinner most of the bars/cafes on Piazza del Popolo and Piazza Aringo serve salads, pastas and deserts. You can also get a light snack when ordering a cocktail or glass of wine in the evening after 6:30PM at most bars, this is called a stuzzichini and is included in the price of the cocktail.
